Sat 12th : Parchman Farm www.myspace.com/parchmanfarmbluesband
With a wealth of experience behind them backing and supporting major Blues acts including Jimmy Rogers, Joe Louis Walker, Robben Ford, and Phil Guy to name but a few, Parchman Farm have notched up a string of credits to their name. Performing on the main stages of many major European blues Festivals including the Lillehammer Blues Festival in Norway, Utrecht Blues Festival in the Netherlands, Jedburgh Festival in Scotland, and appearing no less than three times on the prestigious International stage at the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival, Parchman Farm are without doubt one of Ireland's most travelled and well-known blues bands abroad. Guitarist Pete McGowan's love and respect for the music has brought him to Chicago on more than one occasion where he has guested with Charlie Love in Kingston Mines, and with James Wheeler in Rosa's Lounge on Chicago's west side. More recently, Pete and Fran were invited on-stage by Johnny Drummer where they won the respect of both the musicians and the all-black audience in the legendary Lees Unleaded blues club situated on Chicago's south side. Parchman Farm's sound is a far cry from the heavy rock style that often passes for blues this side of the Atlantic, so if you want to hear a band whose music is firmly rooted in the true tradition of the blues and played straight from the heart, this is the band for you

Sat 26th : The Grainne Duffy Band
Up and coming Rock / Blues guitarist and vocalist, Grainne Duffy will be making her second appearance in JJ’s. Aside from receiving a degree in music in NUI Maynooth, she also has been gigging constantly, as both lead guitarist and vocalist, doing session work which has seen her tour Italy, Sicily and France. She also joined Blues Rock quartet Shanco featuring ex – Bagatelle, drummer Wally Mc Conville, ex - Thin az Lizzy front man John Conlon and son of Gloria Smyth, Paul Sherry. With this band she has threaded the boards of many of the country’s leading venues and of recent the Warrenpoint Blues Festival headlined by Van Morrison. All of which has lead to the development of herself as an artist writing her own material and the beginning of her solo career marked by the recording of her debut album which features ten of these original songs and two completely individual takes of the classics, Thrill is Gone and Rather Go Blind. Joining her to play her original blend of Bonnie Raitt to Allman Brothers style blues rock is an all star stellar line up including Michael Black on drums, and Ronnie O Flynn on bass, both of the Ben Reel band, Richard Nelson on steel and slide guitar, a former member of the Van Morrison band and side man Paul Sherry on rhythm guitar. With his own band Paul, will also be warming up the show with his own brand of Rory Gallagher style straight ahead blues rock from his forthcoming album. This certainly is not an evening to be missed and is a wonderful opportunity to catch these emerging artists in an intimate setting.
