Award winning Blues Guitarist Dave McHugh has spent the past 20 years keeping the music of the great Rory Gallagher alive and well.
The band is a mainstay on the European festival circuit, from the Rory Gallagher review in Wiesbaden, Germany; the Wijk aan Zee festival in The Netherlands, the 'Rock on the Ferry' festival in Glasgow, and of course the International Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon, and the Cork Rocks for Rory Festival in Cork City.
As well as tours on the continent, Dave and his band (Alan Devitt on Drums and Peter Butler on Bass) have toured throughout Ireland extensively, playing in bars and clubs.
The band is tight and fluid, and play a full 3 hour set of blues driven Rory Gallagher music; from early Taste classics such as 'Sugar Mama' and 'What's goin' on' to tunes like 'Tatoo'd Lady' and 'Walk on Hot Coals' and onto such acoustic numbers as 'Walkin Blues' and 'Out on the Western Plain'. And there is a good chance that 'Bullfrog Blues' will finish off a rockin' night!

Featuring Big Dogg and the Bail Outs, Bren's Launch Crew, Colin Scallan & Gareth Brannigan
Bigdogg and the Bail Outs,
Jonny Bigdogg Warren enjoys playing music of all styles but a love affair with blues based music began in earnest circa 2000. Starting out as a drummer with the Bourbon St. Blues band in 2002 and then a short sojourn in “The Rob Strong Band”, The Bigdogg, stepped out front on guitar and vocals and formed his own band, in 2006. Currently called Bigdogg and the Bail Outs, Jonny and company have thrilled audiences at venues in Dublin and around Leinster. They are now ready to blow minds and soothe spirits with rocking blues and good vibes.

Bren’s Launch Crew
Bren’s Launch Crew, make a return visit to JJ’s after headlining there in September last. The band was formed by poet and broadcaster, Brendan Hickey, in 2010, to bring his debut CD “Vergions” to a live audience. Over the last two years, they have played at many Dublin venues and also at The Electric Picnic. Jackie Hayden of Hot Press described Bren’s Launch Crew as “A welcome break from the predictability of much that passes for cutting edge rock"

Colin Scallan
Since he first stepped out to busk on Grafton Street, guitar in hand, at the tender age of fifteen - Colin Scallan has thoroughly enjoyed his life (mis)spent in music. Now, many years and countless live performances later, he is widely recognised amongst his peers as a standout vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, with an instinct for penning enduring songs. He has performed alongside many established Irish and international songwriters, at home, and on his travels around the world. He credits many influences, including Neil Young, Elvis Costello, Bob Marley, Queen and Tom Waits. Colin is due to release his second album in 2012.
You can find out much more about Colin and hear his work online at www.reverbnation.com/colinscallanmusic
Gareth Brannigan
Hailing from County Antrim, Gareth Brannigan has recently moved to Dublin to complete his music studies. “Say It Anyway” his second independent release, strengthens and extends the quality of his earlier EP entitled “Walk with Me”, recorded in 2008. On the back of these two offerings, the young man’s rise to the upper echelons of the Irish music scene and beyond appears certain.

Love Minus Zero - playing the music of Bob Dylan
Whether you’re a die hard Dylan fan from the start or a new fan, you won’t want to miss this gig … Love Minus Zero guarantee a great set of classic Dylan tunes and more on the night, taking in material from the 60’s and onwards. Love minus Zero came together in May this year with the idea of gigging the Dylan tunes that we all wanted to play at one time or another, and to share his music with his many fans out there.
The band’s name might be new to you, but the guys involved are no strangers to JJs,
playing in many of the bands that are already well-known there, including Parchman Farm, The Hightones, Hollywood Slim and the Fat cats, Salvo Blues Band and others.
The band’s members have also played all of the major blues, jazz, country festivals, and venues throughout the country over the years in various outfits.
The lineup in addition to Pete Mc Gowan – Guitar, Ciaran Brougham – Bass, and Fran Dowling –Drums, are keyboards whiz Vinnie O’ Connor (Cantaloupe, Don Baker, Ben Prevo, etc) Guitarist and multi instrumentalist Pat Mc Sweeney (Rye River Boys) and Simon Bolger - an excellent singer songwriter in his own right - who found time between writing and recording his own material to get this up and running. Special guest on the night with the band will be Violinist Oona McFarland … make a note in your diary and get there early for this one!!
